To introduce the diverse cultures of Indonesia and to succeed the program of Visit Indonesia Year 2008, the Indonesian government presently will conduct the Beauty Pageant entitled Miss Tourism Indonesia 2008.
This year - The Miss Tourism Indonesia pageant will be held for the first time and recognized in the agenda of International Miss Tourism.
Mr. Johnnie Sugiarto from the El John Foundation and at the same time also as the Possessor of the International License Contest Organizer said “this contest would be the first time” During the Press Conference in Batavia Hotel, Jakarta.
Johnnie explains that up to now, the contest of Miss Tourism is conducted only in each region but never been in Nationwide. With the entire supports from every party, including the Culture and Tourism Department of Indonesia, thus The Miss Tourism Indonesia pageant officially affirms.
Since the registration period started on March 2008, the total applicant is more than 100 people. The Applicants are from many regions of Indonesia. The entire contestants will be selected to firm the 40 finalists which will be going to have the quarantine period in The Batavia Hotel, Jakarta, on 28 June - 5 July 2008. "The Grand Final of Miss Tourism Indonesia 2008 will be conducted on 5 July 2008," said Johnnie.
The Winner of Miss Tourism Indonesia 2008 is obliged to sign the contract for 1 year and agree to presence in the Miss Tourism International 2008. During the contract period, Miss Tourism Indonesia also obliged to help the Local Government in promoting and expanding the tourism industry spotlight in the main and diversity of Indonesian Cultures.
"People who would like to joint the contest may fill the registration form in the website: www.misstourismindonesia.com," he said. The minimum height of contestant is 165 centimetres.
