 BTDC GREEN GLOBE 21 CERTIFICATIONNusa Dua Tourism Resort lies on 300 hectares land manage by Bali Tourism Development Corporation admitted as environmentally friendly resort area by giving PATA Green Leaf certificate as “ Sustainable future of Pacific ; Asia Travel Industry requires environmentally responsible business practice on 1996. In order to strengthen the company concern to the environment, BTDC follow worldwide certification program through Green Globe 21 since 2001. BTDC formerly has passed two steps of GG21, which are Affiliation & Benchmarking process (2003) and recently waiting for the next assessment from the assessor of GG Asia Pacific at April 28 – 30, 2004. Some properties in Nusa Dua Tourism Resort have carried out the certification of GG21, they are: Melia Bali Resort & Spa and Bali Hilton Int. Melia Bali Hotel & Spa has won the certification twice in succession. Other components in Nusa Dua Tourist resort area soon will follow this certification program. This shows that BTDC and hotel operators in this resort area are no doubt very consistent in maintaining the environment. Cooperation between BTDC and hotel operators in maintaining the environment, as below: 1. Wastewater disposal system management. 2. The exploitation of irrigation water from the waste water processing. 3. Put high concern on building regulation; 70 % of the lot should not be built and the building is not more then 15 m high. 4. Conduct kinds of social work inside resort area. 5. The establishment of some local arts. 6. etc. For last few couples of months, BTDC has execute some repairing to support GG21 certification program, which are: 1. Sorting the trash. BTDC provides different types of trash been for both organic & inorganic trash. 2. Close the shallow well in central parking area. This is done as the anticipation due to the operation of this well can make the intrusion of seawater, so the well is replaced with PDAM as the fresh water resources. 3.
